The Terroir

Located on the heights of Cadillac, Domaine des Perchés benefits from a unique terroir, shaped by centuries of geological history and human interactions. This exceptional terroir is the source of inestimable wealth, where each element – the soil, the climate, the grape varieties – contributes to creating wines with a singular character.

We listen to the terroir: it is the terroir that guides us in the choice of grape varieties, with the priority being the quality of the harvests without any compromise...

A fertile land, a source of inspiration

At Domaine des Perchés, the terroir is our greatest heritage. This vineyard on a human scale wants to cross the ages, driven by this desire to constantly evolve, to question itself with each new vintage, without ever losing sight of the love of the terroir and age-old traditions.

Here more than anywhere else, we take the time to listen, observe and smell this fertile terroir, which benefits from a unique microclimate, giving the wines an incomparable typicity. Because the miracle lies in a clever equation, between an exceptional terroir and a privileged location on the slopes of the Garonne, enriched with unique know-how.
On the estate, there are gravelly, clay-silt and clay-limestone soils, suitable for the production of highly complex wines.

The vines, planted in high density, with extremely close and very narrow rows between each vine, offer a unique symbiosis with nature. This tightening not only promotes the interaction between the vines, but also strengthens the natural immunity of the vineyard, a guarantee of quality and sustainability.

This fertile terroir is a source of life, which demands the greatest respect in order to reveal all its richness. Each foot is deeply rooted in the soil, to seek out the nutrients necessary for the development of the vines and the quality of the berries. From this harmony between the generosity of this land and those who cultivate it, exceptional wines are born that tell a story with each tasting.

Our wines are born from the earth, but it is the attention paid to the soil that gives them a soul.

The Soil: The Soul of the Estate

The Estate is based on a mosaic of soils, mixing clay, limestone and sandstone. These variations allow the grape varieties to reveal infinite nuances, offering complex and balanced wines.

  • Clay: Promotes the power and depth of reds.

  • Limestone: Brings freshness and minerality to whites.

  • Sandstone: Enhances the delicate aromas of micro-cuvées.

Each plot is worked with care, using environmentally friendly methods, to preserve this natural diversity.

Between sun and breezes, our land dances to the rhythm of the seasons

The Climate: A Valuable Partner

Domaine des Perchés benefits from an ideal climate, where mild summers and temperate winters allow for a slow and even ripening of the grapes. The breezes from the Garonne add a unique freshness, balancing the generosity of the sun. This exceptional climate gives rise to wines that are both rich and elegant, imbued with an authentic character.

Here, at Domaine des Perchés, art and wine converse, not in silence, but in a poetic scenography.

Adapted and Respected Grape Varieties

The choice of grape varieties, from local and emblematic varieties, demonstrates a deep respect for the terroir:

Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc for fresh and complex whites.

  • Cabernet and Sauvignon for deep and elegant reds.

  • Micro-cuvées from rare grape varieties, revealing all the audacity of the Domaine.

Each grape variety is cultivated using sustainable practices, where the vine is supported and not constrained.

The Hand of Man: Respect Above All

At Domaine des Perchés, the terroir is a treasure that we strive to preserve and exalt. The harvests are carried out by hand, and each stage of winemaking is designed to reveal the authenticity of the land. Our commitment to biodiversity and sustainability guarantees a harmonious future for our vines.
